Sunny Cooper, Senior Project Manager, Real Estate Development
Sunny Luisa Cooper has broad professional experience in matters relating to real estate development, affordable housing, compliance and neighborhood planning. With almost 10 years of experience in the Real Estate Development and Affordable Housing fields, she has served as a project manager for real estate development for NHS of Baltimore for the past 5 years. Prior to NHS of Baltimore, Sunny managed compliance matters related to HOME, Tax Credit, and Bond transactions for Baltimore City’s Department of Housing and for Pennrose Properties as well as worked with local community groups on a variety of planning issues. She is currently managing the Woodbourne McCabe Homeownership Project and completing homeownership projects in Baltimore County’s Riverview / Halethorpe and Historic East Towson communities. A proud graduate of Baltimore City College High School (City) and Coppin State University, Sunny has a Masters degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan. She has served as an adjunct instructor for Social Sciences Department at Coppin State University since 2000, instructing “Race and Ethnicity” (Fall) and “Sociology of the City” (Spring), as well as a host of other Sociology courses. scooper@nhsbaltimore.com

David Fielder, Housing Rehab Specialist
David Fielder has worked as a landscape architect in a large Baltimore architecture, landscape architecture and planning firm. While there he was exposed to many aspects of “Green” design. At Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore, David is using that information to create new “Green” construction specifications. The new specifications help contractors understand the standard of housing rehabilitation that NHS of Baltimore requires for its clients. Evangela Franklin, Program Assistant
Evangela “Vangie” Franklin joined the NHSB family in Nov. 2008. Her non-profit service began in 2002 with her employment at the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum in which she worked as Development Administrative Assistant. Ellen Frick, Outreach Coordinator
Ellen is an AmeriCorps VISTA and began working with NHS in August 2009 as an Outreach Coordinator. She will be working to get the word out about the services of NHS all around Baltimore. Originally from Minneapolis, Ellen graduated from the University of Minnesota in May 2009 with a degree in Sociology and Social Justice. Ellen enjoys volunteering and being active in the community and is excited to learn about the neighborhoods of Baltimore. Next fall, she is planning to attend law school to study public-interest law. Salina Greene, Outreach Coordinator
Salina Greene is an AmeriCorps VISTA who recently joined the NHS of Baltimore family in August 2009. Originally from Delaware, Ms. Greene holds a B.A. in Drama from Washington University in St. Louis. She hopes to complete her Master’s in International Relations- concentrating on economic development and human rights after her year of service. Her non-profit interests stem from her experiences volunteering and working with national and community organizations over the years. Per her assignment, she believes in NHS’s mission of making homeownership and home retention possible for all. She is eager to learn more about the challenges facing Baltimore city and county residents in this struggling housing market. Robert Horton, Loan Officer
Robert Horton is the Loan Officer for NHS of Baltimore. He is involved with our Home Improvement, Refinance, and Bridge Loan programs. He has been with NHSB for 4 years. Mr. Horton holds a B.A. in History & Political Science as well as certificates in Loan Servicing, Foreclosure Prevention and Predatory Lending. Eleanor Horvitz, Senior Accountant
Eleanor Horvitz became involved with NHS of Baltimore as a volunteer in 1976. After two years, the organization approached her to work as a full time accountant. Eleanor has worked for NHS of Baltimore since January of 1978. Originally from Washington DC, she graduated from The College of Notre Dame in Baltimore and has stayed in the area since then with her husband and two grown children. The people Eleanor has met through NHS of Baltimore are the driving force behind her dedication to the organization. Cassandra Robb is the Lending Manager for NHS of Baltimore. Ms. Robb holds a B.A. from Alabama State University. She is certified under HUD’s Full Cycle Lending and holds certificates in Foreclosure Prevent and Post Purchase counseling. Alicia Schuller, Marketing Coordinator
Alicia Schuller graduated from Towson University in 2008, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Originally hailing from Casper, Wyoming, she moved to Baltimore in 2004 to attend college. Prior to graduation, her background was in television and newspaper writing and production. Alicia is currently attending the University of Baltimore for a Master’s in Public Administration. She has a passion to work towards redeveloping Baltimore and reverse the effects of decline, displacement and income/opportunity inequality. Rena Somar has been with NHS of Baltimore for 2 years. She is currently in school at Baltimore City Community College working on her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Felix M. Torres Colon, Executive Director
Felix M. Torres Colon has been a practicing community development professional for over twenty years. Mr. Torres graduated from Harvard University in 1979 and studied city planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been responsible for a diversified portfolio of projects, running the gamut from the development of a 16 unit residence for people with AIDS to a financial restructuring of a 265 unit Section 8 project. Mr. Torres was a loan underwriter and technical assistance provider to nonprofit housing developers as a staff member of nationally known housing intermediaries Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation and the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. Mr. Torres also worked with Nuestra Communidad Development Corporation and the Coalition for a Better Acre. From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Torres was the executive director of Manchester Neighborhood Housing Services (MNHS) of Manchester, NH. Under the leadership of Mr. Torres, MNHS led all the nonprofits of the state in loan production, housing counseling and family rental housing development. Most recently, Mr. Torres was a Senior Business Developer at Fannie Mae managing accounts with national Hispanic nonprofit organizations. Mr. Torres is a member of Fannie Mae Community Technology Council, National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders, Executive Committee of the Baltimore Housing Preservation Coalition. Mr. Torres was chosen as one of New Hampshire Leaders for the 21st Century by Business NH Magazine and the NH Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives as well as New Hampshire Diversity Council’s Champion of Diversity, Housing Category. ftorres@nhsbaltimore.com

Lance Tucker, Program Assistant
Lance Tucker is a graduate of TESST College of Technology located in Towson, Maryland. Upon receiving his Associate’s degree in Computerized Business Management in 2005, he has utilized his skills through assisting non-profit organizations such as Maryland Energy Assistance Program and the Fuel Fund of Baltimore. He began his employment with NHSB on October 31, 2008 and supports the mission which includes educating and assisting Maryland residents with “smarter” homeownership. Tanya Washington, Chief Operating Officer
Tanya Washington became the Chief Operating Officer in October 2007 after being the Assistant Director of Administration. She gained her experience in the nonprofit sector by working with RAISE, Inc an organization that helped at-risk youth in targeted Baltimore City Public Schools. Moreover, Tanya Washington gained additional knowledge and experience through a program in Community Economic Development where she obtained a Master’s Degree in CED from Southern New Hampshire University. For eighteen years, Tanya Washington has been a champion of helping families succeed and improve their life situations through education and training. In 1995, she accepted the position as Office Manager at NHS of Baltimore where she has been for over 13 years. Jacqueline Wilson, Loan Processor
Jacqueline Wilson has been with NHSB for 12 years in the capacity as Program Assistant. In 2008, she was promoted as a Loan Processor in the lending department. Her dedication to clients goes well beyond the usual paperwork; she is dedicated to helping families feel comfortable in their home buying decisions while enjoying their homes. In her spare time, she is a student at the Faith Theological Seminary where she will obtain her Associate Degree in Divinity.
